I noticed a comment I hadn't seen before on the very first entry of this fantastic(ish) blog today, on our venerable old friend and borderline mascot, the Ugly Laser Man.
It would seem, remarkably, that the Ugly Laser Man was actually part of a series of toys! As said by the man who uncovered the truth, the wise CM, "Ugly Laser Man is from a group of toys called Trash Bag Bunch. They came in a bag that you tossed into warm water, and it would dissolve, revealing the figure."
A quick squiz through the Internet confirms this, and as per ToyArchive.com, ULM is a member of the good guys, or the 'Disposers', of the planet Garbagio. Led by Professor Garboff, they're in the middle of a war with the dastardly toxic Trashors, which has recently (as of 1991) moved to here on Earth! Oh noes! I was wondering why ULM refused to go into the rubbish bin.
The Trash Bag Bunch were made by Galoob in an effort to promote recycling and shit. Because repulsive cyborg men really make me want to be environmentally conscious. And, in case you were wondering, yes, this does mean that ULM actually has a real name.
Ladies and gentlemen, I'd like you to meet...
White Washer.
Yep. There you have it. In just a little bit under a year, one of the original mysteries of this blog has been solved. If only CM could tell me where in god's name Charles Barkley went, we'd be set. Also, I think this officially makes ULM a garbage man. And I think this is fantastic. Don't you?
A massive thank you to CM for this reveal of enormous proportions! ULM is ecstatic, and shooting the floor in celebration as we speak.
I love it when a good toy mystery gets solved!
